Raymond Gendron, Canadian Portrait Painter

Portrait Painter Raymond Gendron

Raymond Gendron started his career as a professional illustrator in 1974 in the City of Montreal, Canada where he rapidly became a prominent figure in this field.

Throughout his career he has been solicited by many of the most important Canadian and international business institutions.

“The very high standards demanded by the illustration industry quickly imposed on me a technical strictness as well as a total involvement in my work. As for figurative painters, this genre of work was the best school for me.”

After more than 30 years in the illustration industry, Raymond Gendron now dedicates his time to easel painting with an emphasis on the art of portrait painting. His classical approach and the simplicity of his interpretation give a timeless depth to his models.

“I focus on personality and resemblance which are for me the principal axes of the portrait. I avoid the superfluous although I do not hesitate to add relevant elements for a particular staging. Lighting and expression are for me the determining factor in the success of the painting.
